Home Planet Fund (HPF) is heeding the calls of our changing Earth by supporting Indigenous, community-led, nature-based solutions to the climate and biodiversity crisis. HPF provides sizable, long-term, flexible grants directly to Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities—especially those in ecologically fragile, remote, and disputed places. Practicing trust-based philanthropy, HPF gives grants with no strings attached, because we trust those who have always practiced the best solutions for the planet.
Launched with $20MM in seed funding from Patagonia, HPF is building a collaborative fund to which multiple funders can contribute in service of community-led, Indigenous-led climate solutions.
As Programs and Grants Manager, you’ll work hand-in-hand with HPF’s Executive Director to bring this mission to life. You’ll lead the management of grants and programs across multiple geographies—from the Third Pole in Central Asia to the Pacific Islands—ensuring that HPF’s resources reach communities efficiently, respectfully, and with integrity. This role blends strategy, relationship stewardship, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full grant lifecycle, from due diligence through reporting and relationship management.
- Serve as primary liaison to Indigenous and community partners, listening deeply and ensuring their priorities shape HPF’s work.
- Develop and implement program strategies, policies, and practices that strengthen trust and long-term partnership.
- Collaborate with HPF’s finance and storytelling teams to ensure impact reporting and compliance.
- Support communications and thought leadership that elevate Indigenous-led and community-led solutions globally.
Requirements
Ideal Candidate
- 5–7 years of experience in program or grant management.
- Background in locally run nonprofits or community-based organizations, domestically or internationally.
- Hands-on experience with grantmaking, due diligence, and partner relationship management.
- Lived or professional experience working with Indigenous Peoples or local communities.
- Excellent writing, organizational, and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Willingness to travel 20–40% (domestic and international).
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $125,000–$150,000 commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Location
Remote, with occasional travel to HPF’s Ventura, CA office and partner sites around the world.
