Description
RICBT, part of Optum Behavioral Care, is a mental health practice based in Rhode Island and operating in New Haven, CT. We are passionate about helping patients to overcome all sorts of problems they might be having in their lives including emotional, behavioral, mental or cognitive problems. East Providence also offers neuropsychological assessments and evaluations for adults and children.As an Associate Patient Care Coordinator with RICBT, you will be responsible for providing support to patients and the clinical staff. The Associate Patient Care Coordinator will greet and support the check in and check out for patients, register new patients, prepare paperwork and review for accuracy, verify completion of consents and insurance eligibility, process payments for in-person appointments, handle existing patient communications, manage internal referrals and ensure work locations are presentable and welcoming.
Location: 400 Massasoit Ave. East Providence, RI 02914. May be asked to travel to another nearby clinic for training.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm EST
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide reception and clerical support in the clinic's front office
- Ensure all locations are welcoming and adhere to brand guidelines
- Assist patients with the check in and check out process
- Review each patient's chart prior to appointment and ensure consents and insurance verification are complete
- Collect and upload insurance cards and identification
- Assist with onboarding new patients, help patient's access patient portal, prepare and confirm completion of paperwork, ensure consents and insurance verification are complete
- Answer incoming calls and return voicemails timely, respond to patient questions and triage incoming requests to appropriate departments
- Assist in updating and/or schedule existing patient appointments and internal referrals with providers
- Process payments for co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, self-pay, and missed appointments fees
- Ensure patient inquiries are addressed quickly, including resolving patient insurance eligibility issues
- Monitor clinician/admin/OBC inbox and respond accordingly and take necessary steps
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidentiality

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- 1+ years of experience in an office environment (preferably in a mental health or medical setting)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with insurance verification
- Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation - Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Athena RMS (or other EHRs)
- Basic understanding of medical terminology
- Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical staff
- Ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $17.74 to $31.63 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
